First Lady of Fashion: Michelle Obama
By Heather Kirkpatrick
Comparisons of Jackie Kennedy Onassis and Michelle Obama have swamped newscasts and
fashion-critic blogs across the
nation. But are these speculations of good
warrant? Upgrade Magazine delved further
into the style patterns of both women to
give you a deeper look.
Countless black-and-white pictures of
Jackie O. ooze her style, depicting her as
a fashionista. The First Lady and wife to
our country's 35th President, Jackie's style
was simple, classy and elegant. Thought
of by many as a quiet fashion icon of her
era, Jackie's casual, yet confident, manner
perhaps alluded to a mysterious image.
From her immaculately teased hair
and classic suits during the early days of
her husband's presidency, to a more casual
flipped hair style and oversized shades in
later days, Jackie Kennedy Onassis laid the
foundation for much of today's fashion
scene.
With the historical presidential election
and inauguration of Barack Obama, a strong
focus has been turned to our new First Lady
Michelle Obama. And more importantly, to
her fashion sense. Michelle wowed everyone
in her 2008 appearance on "The View"
wearing a black-and-white leaf-print dress
by American-designer Donna Ricco.
